Job Listing for Medical Examiner's Investigator II at San Francisco Medical Examiner

San Francisco is seeking an experienced death investigator who can respond to death scenes coming under the jurisdiction of the Chief Medical Examiner, including difficult, sensitive and/or complex cases; remove and/or authorize removal of body from the scene.

The candidate would conduct the following:

- Conduct field investigations; interview witnesses, physicians, police officers, family members and others to obtain facts concerning the death; establish identification of deceased person; notify medical examiner on-call, and work with investigators from other agencies.

- Gather forensic evidence and medical information; examine the body of deceased person and records any pertinent evidence; examine the surrounding vicinity and records findings; maintain chain of evidence.

- Take charge and record valuables and property removed from death scene for safekeeping.

- Must be able to lift up to 175 lbs. body safely using proper lifting techniques with a partner. Incumbent would need to satisfactorily pass a POST background examination, polygraph, and law enforcement psychological testing, in addition pass drug and medical screening.
